I’m a Liverpool-based graphic designer and the founder of Joya Studio.
I’ve always been creative and drawn to anything arty. That path naturally led me to study Graphic Design, where I graduated in 2019. From there, I went into a corporate design role, where I’ve spent the past eight years building a strong foundation in branding, layout, and visual communication… but something always felt like it was missing.
Alongside my full-time work, I freelanced for years, slowly shaping my own style and creative direction. Over time, it became clear I wanted to build something more personal, expressive, and aligned with how I see design.
Now, at 30, I’ve taken the leap into working for myself full-time. Joya Studio is the result of that decision, a space for thoughtful, detail-driven design that feels considered, intentional, and visually satisfying.
When I’m not designing, you’ll usually find me planning home renovations, decorating, or travelling to new places in search of inspiration.
Hi, I’m Gemma.
My Approach
I believe the best design comes from a balance of intuition and intention. My process is collaborative and considered, grounded in understanding what you need your design to do, not just how it should look.
I’m drawn to work that feels refined, quietly confident, and visually beautiful without being overworked. Whether it’s branding, editorial, or something more bespoke, I aim to create design that feels natural, cohesive, and built to last.
Thoughtful, Intentional Design
Every project starts with understanding the bigger picture. I focus on creating work that’s not just visually appealing, but purposeful, balancing aesthetics with clarity, strategy, and attention to detail.
Detail-Driven, Lasting Outcomes
I care about the finer details, the spacing, the flow, the subtle elements that elevate a design from good to exceptional. The goal is to create work that feels considered at every touchpoint and stands the test of time, rather than following short-lived trends.
